In the midst of rising tensions and conflicts between Israel and Iran, Air India and several global airlines have suspended their aviation services to the Ben Gurion Airport, located in Tel-Aviv, due to the terror group Hamas.
Air India announced on its official Twitter handle, “In view of the ongoing situation in parts of the Middle East, we have suspended scheduled operation of our flights to and from Tel Aviv with immediate effect up to and including 08 August 2024.”
They further said, concerning the security of their passengers, “We are continuously monitoring the situation and are extending support to our passengers with confirmed bookings for travel to and from Tel Aviv during this period, with a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges.
Air India concluded by stating, “Safety of our guests and crew remains our foremost priority. For more information, please call our 24/7 Contact Centre at 011-69329333/011-69329999.”
According to the Air India website updates, on 01 August 2024, they canceled flights AI139 from Delhi to Tel Aviv and AI140 from Tel Aviv to Delhi for operational reasons. Air India operates four flights from Delhi to Tel Aviv every week.
In addition to Air India, many other airlines have terminated their flights to Tel Aviv, seeing the terror conditions. These airlines include Germany’s Lufthansa Groups, Swiss International Airlines, and many other U.S. and European Airlines as well.
According to the sources, these airlines have extended their flight suspension to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, until 12 August 2024.
